Some pilgrims land in Madinah first and continue directly to Makkah for Umrah. It is a long journey after a flight, so it helps to have one vehicle waiting at Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport that takes your group all the way, with the miqat stop planned into the schedule.
Meeting your driver at the airport
Share your flight number and arrival time when you book. After immigration and baggage collection your driver takes you to the vehicle. Tell us your group size and luggage so that a suitable car, SUV or van is sent.
Stopping at the miqat
Pilgrims travelling on to Makkah for Umrah commonly enter ihram at Dhul Hulayfah (Abyar Ali), on the road out of Madinah. Tell us in advance so the stop is built into the schedule, with time to prepare and pray. We arrange the transport only; for questions about the rites, follow the guidance of your group leader or a qualified scholar.
The journey and your arrival in Makkah
The road distance is roughly 450 km and takes about four and a half to five hours without stops. Plan for prayer, meals and rest, especially after a flight. In Makkah, vehicle access near the Masjid al-Haram is restricted, so the drop-off is at the closest practical point to your hotel. Share the hotel name when you book.
